Ol' Americana art form

Trying my hand at a true American art form: rug hooking. I bought a little kit from Ebay, which conveniently had all the wool, the hook, and a burlap printed with 3 lambs. Watched a short You Tube "how to" video and here we are! Cute little lambs, but I want to change the "primitive" or "folk artsy" look to something of my own (yes, I actually put a party hat on him). We'll see, this is a fun and different challenge for me. I'm intrigued by the wide variety of wool strip colors that you can get from here and other Ebay sellers. A lot of artists, such as Mary Stanley, cut their own wool from recycled sweaters and stuff, but I just don't have the time! I'll keep you posted on this cool and ancient American art form...

Oh I love how this came out Christine. Now you'll have to buy a real sheep or rabbit, and spin the wool yourself! I remember seeing someone doing that at the fair. :) Anyway, I look forward to seeing the other goodies you make. Take care, Martha

Adorable!!!! Christine I love the little hat. I have a THNG for Lambs. I have two really sweet lamb painting in my house... Hmmm this spring I should do a LAMB post. Have fun with your rug. It's so much fun to learn new things isn't it? I took a class today from Lisa at Tarnished & Tattered & really love the wall hanging I did. I'll post it in a couple of days. Thanks for stopping by today for a visit & leaving a comment. Have a wonderful weekend. HUGS! Charlene

So impressed with all of the techniques you have been learning. Sweet lambs, and wonderful jewelry you have in your Etsy shop.
